Hello my name is Amy, I chose Photography for my GCSEs. I chose this subject because I'm interested in taking pictures and enjoying taking them as well and exploring them too. I look forward to using a slr camera, taking and controlling how i want my pictures. I'm also looking forward to the projects we'll be doing and experimenting different things in photography. I hope the projects we'll be doing will be challenging but enjoyable. Out of this subject I hope to have a lot of experience in photography and I might consider a career to do with photography in the future. I would like to get an A or B for my grades. I have experimented with slr cameras before from friends and family e.g light painting but I'd like to get a camera for myself. I can't wait for the experiences to come in photography GCSE and all of the exciting projects. Some of the headers so far are taken by myself.
For the years I'll be doing GCSE photography, I'd like to learn as much as I can and seeing the photos and galleries.

1. How should a good photograph express the photographer's intention? How should the photograph express what the photographer wishes to say, his/her meaning?
- I think the photographer should capture the picture how they want, it should be able to make viewer analyse the image carefully and consider the situation presented. Sometimes you don't need text to describe the picture for people but they can interpret the pictures for themselves.
2. How can a good photograph communicate something that words cannot?
- If they capture the picture well, then the picture we'll be able to speak for itself, engaging the viewers. Some pictures that have a dark atmosphere may portray a mysterious or aggressive emotions, and a light atmosphere may portray happiness or joyful emotions. Good photographs can be expressed in so many ways. It depends on that person and how they will interpret the picture for themselves. The photographer may think the complete opposite.
3. How can a good photograph engage or capture the viewer's attention?
- A good photograph needs to be able to make the viewers interpret the image for themselves, create their own point of the photograph and for them to answer their own questions and fill in the blanks. If the photographer wanted to engage the viewers attention they would have to be able to make the viewer observe for a long time, thinking about the image
4. Can a good photograph make a person feel sympathy or sadness or happiness?
- Yes, because an image can many stories behind it or there might not even be any, some people might interpret the image differently as to anyone else . For example, a photograph of a man sitting on a bench; they might think he's lonely, sad but on the other hand some people may think he's happy or just contemplating his thoughts
5. Do you think that a good photograph is best shown alone, or do you think that photographs should be shown as a collection with many others?
- I think a good photograph can be shown alone as well as a collection. Because some pictures that are quite meaningful and dramatic will good alone but pictures that are associating with the same subject may look quite interesting together as a collection
6. Do you think that a good photograph can demand a response from the viewer, for example do you think that it should make the viewer say or think something/ Look at the photo overleaf for example, does this photo make you want to ask questions
- I don't think a good photograph should demand a response from the viewer. It's all about what the viewer's thoughts and their story and emotions towards the photograph. It's different because you don't have to have any emotions at all, it'll be just a normal photo. But to the photographer or other viewers there may be a background to it.
7. Should a good photograph be well composed and have good lighting? Give a visual example with your answer.
- Not all photographs should be well composed and have good lighting because sometimes the darkest pictures have the most words to say. The composing and lighting should help communicate the subject of the photo, showing the main purpose.
