Unit 2: Clothing
I have selected the theme of 'Clothing' as may starting point for the Externally Set Task. I went on pinterest and pinned some posts of some inspiration. I chose this theme because i thought it would involve a lot of experiments and its my target to experiment. So i thought it would be good for me.
INITIAL PLAN:

JUCOJUCO, comprised of Julia Galdo and Cody Cloud, are a photography duo that do it all. Their fashion photography contains highly saturated colors, incredible locations, patterns, textures, and even humor. You can tell that a lot of thought goes into the juxtaposition of their subject, the location, the clothing, and the props.

Victor DemarchelierVictor Demarchelier like his father, Patrick Demarchelier, Victor took up photography. His work uses simple concepts to make big statements. He shoots for a variety of major magazines and has established himself as separate from, albeit still a descendant of, one of the greatest fashion photographers to ever live.

These were my first set of images, experimenting with the lights and backdrop, my first experiment was in school so i didn't have a wide variety of the different clothing i would of liked to have. What i didn't like about these images were that they had a lot of shadows in the background, i would of liked to position the lights so it wouldn't create shadows.

For this experiment i didn't like the images as the lighting was very dark and dull, which didn't highlight my model. There were few dark areas in the image that were also hard to edit out on photoshop. It would've like to use these images but the contrast between the lighting was not easy to adjust, so i didn't use these images in further experiments. What i should do next time to improve is have better lighting and adjust the camera and lights to help.
For these set of images, i had an idea that i wanted to use them for but it didn't work out the way i planned it, but i've uploaded it for future uses if i ever need to use them. i really liked the images of the girl in the blue shirt as i found that the theme of being 'casual and comfy' really worked. But the images of the girl in dark blue, it could've been more focused, the composition and the body language of the girl.
For this final outcome i adjusted the brightness and contrast for both the background and foreground. i would of like the image to have better lighting to highlight the model better

For this experiment i went to the fair in blackheath, i thought the whole setting of a fair would be a good background for my images as a contrast for the clothing my model would of been wearing, i would of liked if it was daytime and the model was wearing more quirky clothing that would match with the fair. I did like the shots of the rides and thought it would be good to edit my images with them.
For this experiment i used a green background so i could later edit them easier on photoshop, I'm improved the lighting as my last experiment had bad lighting which was dark. I really like the choice of clothing and how the models both looked good together. i would of liked to have full body shots but i still found the images i took were good enough. the lighting was just right for some as it didn't highlight them too much to look washed out or to look dark and dull. I followed with this idea because of the images from the fair, as i thought the clothing had carnival vibes that would look good with the fair images.
Showing the process on photoshop to cut out the background and to just get a cutout of the model. I used the magic wand tool which detected the green background and cut it really easily and quickly. I also used the lasso tool to cut the parts that the magic wand couldn't get properly.
For the first image i decided to merge some of the images of the fair rides together to create one image showing them all but subtly, i really liked the image as i thought it was very busy and interesting but it was subtle. For the second image i followed on my initial ideas and put the first image as a background of my models, as it contrasted well because of the clothing and setting.
For this next experiment i took a different approach from all my other experiments. I decided to use a projector and project images onto a person wearing all white clothing. I really liked these photos because i chose to project the individuals culture onto them, so they were unique and able to express their culture. Although i really liked this experiment i think i should of used my own images to project instead putting loads of images together on one collage. But i liked the idea of someones culture projected onto them.
Final Pieces
Final Evaluation
Towards the end of Unit 2 i started to know what i wanted to do with my experiments and how i would develop them. For my first two final pieces they come as a pair, as they are really similar and i preferred them together. The background of those images were my own, i took them as an experiment but i found i couldn't really develop them how i planned to, so instead i merged them on photoshop to create my own background.
